A plan that works, whereby the religious or irreligious seldom gets on the defensive, it locates them immediately without unjustly offending them.
Three Questions
- What is your religious background?
- Have you attended church since living in this neighborhood? -> (If yes) So you must be interested in spiritual things.
- Do you know what it means to be “born again”? -> (Ordinarily no). Let me share it with you.
Outline of the Gospel
A. Being “Born Again” Is The Key To Eternal Life.
- John 3:3, “Jesus answered him, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.’”
- John 3:6, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
- John 3:7, “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’”
B. Our natural birth is not enough for eternal life.
- It cannot help. – John 6:63, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”
- It cannot do good. – Romans 7:18, “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.”
- It cannot please God. – Romans 8:8, “Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
C. By nature, we are predisposed to all kinds of sin.
- Galatians 5:19-21, “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
D. Our sin alienates us from God and condemns us.
- Colossians 1:21, “And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,”
- Romans 3:19, “Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.”
E. We were all born sinners, but there is someone who can make things right.
Romans 5:19, “For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.”
F. If A Person Died In This Condition They Would Experience The Wages Of Sin.
- Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Revelation 20:14, “Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.”
- Revelation 20:15, “And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
G. God Desires That None Perish.
2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
H. Christ died to pay our sin debt.
- Romans 5:8, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
- 1 Peter 3:18, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,”
I. Two days later he came back out of the grave and hundreds of people saw him.
1 Corinthians 15:4-6, “That he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep.”
J. God has done everything so we can be saved.
Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
K. We are saved when we give up on our old sinful life and follow Jesus.
- Repentance – “Testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God,
- Faith – and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Acts 20:21
L. We can enjoy the promise of eternal life as children of God when we reach out to Jesus as our savior.
- John 1:12, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,”
- Romans 10:9, “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
As soon as you read this verse to your prospect, have them to bow their head and repeat The Sinner’s Prayer, one sentence at a time.
