Since God commands us to hide His Word away in our hearts (Deuteronomy 6:6) and write it upon the table of our hearts, He helps us do so, if only we believe (Mark 11:24). I suggest you claim by faith that God will help you memorize the 52 assignments in 52 weeks.
- Read aloud the 3 verses 10 times in the morning (6 minutes).
- Repeat this procedure for 7 days on the same assignment.
- At the end of the week the verses have been repeated 70 times.
- Each time before reading each verse repeat the name of the book, chapter, and verse (you are memorizing the location of the text).
- After memorizing an assignment, repeat once per day for 30 days, so you will never forget the verses. This takes less than one minute You may do this while driving to and from work.
- Families should repeat the Scriptures together in their devotions. If you pause after each period and comma you can stay together.
- We recommend that local churches say their Scriptures together every Wednesday or Sunday evening. This keeps the congregation interested. For several years Thomas Road Baptist Church people have repeated their weekly assignments together.
GRADING SYSTEM
- Individuals should select a competent listener and repeat Scriptures in assignment weekly to him or her.
- Local church pastors should select a supervisor for every 12 club members in the Scripture memory course and have them meet weekly at a designated time. The leader could use a buddy system and have each to repeat verses to each other, then place an “X” mark in the report card Each club supervisor should report the amount of verses memorized by his group to the pastor so he can announce it to the audience.
- When the course is completed, there should be a graduation exercise with diplomas being given to everyone who has finished the course. This will have a tendency to lessen the dropouts. If this Scripture memorization course is made one of the most important features in a strong evangelistic church where the proper emphasis is placed on the value of soul winning, souls will be walking the aisle continuously and the baptismal waters will be moving.
